Donald and Casey at top of leaderboard in Tour Championship
Published:Luke Donald and Paul Casey have joined Australian Geoff Ogilvy at the top of The Tour Championship leaderboard after shooting rounds of 66.
Casey, reeling from his Ryder Cup snub, is producing his finest golf of the season and at 5/1, is looking good value to win The Tour Championship.
But with a quarter of the odds available for an each way place, Casey is 1/1 to finish in the top four.
The world number seven is paired with Jim Furyk after the American shot 67 to sit one shot behind the leaders, and Casey is 10/11 to shoot a better score than Furyk, 11/10.
Europe’s Ryder Cup team member Luke Donald will tee off with Geoff Ogilvy as they both look to continue pulling away from the rest of the field.
Donald and Ogilvy both share 6/1 second favouritism to win The Tour Championship, and are both 1/1 to score better than each other today.
Donald is arguably Europe’s most important player for the Ryder Cup that starts in Newport next week, and Colin Montgomerie will be impressed by his wildcard pick’s form entering the tournament – Donald is 8/1 to be Europe’s top Ryder Cup point scorer.
Pre-tournament favourite Phil Mickelson is three shots off the lead and his price has remained steady at 7/1 to win at the East Lake Golf Club.
Mickelson tees off with Hunter Mahan today and his fellow American and Ryder Cup teammate played some impressive golf on his way to a 69 yesterday and could be the dark horse of the competition – he is 16/1 to win The Tour Championship.
