Mancini sure that Silva will be a Manchester City big hit

Roberto Mancini is confident that David Silva will play more of a starring role in the Manchester City team now that the recent stream of internationals have been completed.

Silva has been on the bench for City’s last three Premier League games having been kept out of the team by the fine form of James Milner and Adam Johnson on the wings.

However, Mancini does not doubt the quality of the Spaniard, who arrived at Eastlands for £25m from Valencia over the summer, and feels that he will soon become more familiar with the league and become more of a force on the pitch.

Mancini said: “The thing with Silva is that we have been able to work with him only a couple of days at a time since he arrived.

“He had just signed for us when he went off with his national team to play in Mexico. Then he came back and very quickly was off with the national team again, this time to play in Argentina – another long trip.

“I always said that he would need time because it is very different here than playing in Spain. The internationals are over now and I think it will be time for him to play in the team from the next game.”

City are 11/1 to win the Premier League this season after their summer of heavy spending, but are currently seven points behind leaders Chelsea having gained just five points from their opening four games.

Their next league outing is a short trip to Wigan, where they are 8/13 to land a first away victory of the season.

However, they kick-off the group stages of the Europa League first with a trip to Austria to face Red Bull Salzburg and are 4/7 to open with a win.

It ended 1-1 when Manchester City travelled to Wigan last season. See the complete betting market for this season’s encounter.
