Bayern Munich vs Freiburg – Schweinsteiger to dominate

Published:

Bayern Munich have endured one of the worst starts to a season in their history and are already a full 12 points behind leaders Mainz. They simply must beat Freiburg in their next Bundesliga game.

Match Odds

Bayern have struggled for anything resembling consistent form in the Bundesliga this season.

They’ve lost their games with both Mainz and Dortmund, scraped draws at home to the likes of Cologne and Werder Bremen, and lost away to Kaiserslautern, who’ve since gone on to lose seven games in a row in the league.

Still, Bayern are the current title holders and have a perfect record in the Champions League, thus their odds being just 1/4 to beat Freiburg.

Freiburg are 7/1 to beat Bayern, which is pretty good given they’re currently four places above them and have five wins in their last eight games.

Bayern do, however, have an in form Bastian Schweinsteiger in their ranks.

The star of the World Cup scored twice in their win over Werder Bremen in the German Cup recently and Freiburg will have to keep him quiet if they want to get anything from the game.

Correct Scoreline

Bayern’s biggest problem is goals. They can’t seem to score any.

You’d think with the fire power of Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller, Ivica Olic and Toni Kroos, they’d have no trouble scoring, but so far they’ve only managed eight goals in nine games.

Their joint top scorers at present are captain Mark van Bommel and main man Schweinsteiger who each have two goals.

Given this, you’d have to say goals will be scarce and a single goal may decide it.

You’ll get odds of 6/1 on that goal going to Bayern and them going to record a 1-0 win.

But you’ll get odds of 14/1 on Freiburg scoring once and going on to do the same.

If they’re going to score, then there’s a good chance it’ll come from Papisse Cisse.

The Senegalese striker has eight goals in nine games so far this season and will be hoping to add to this at the Allianz Arena.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is 40/1 to win the Ballon D’Or, follow the full odds market here.
