Bilbao prepare for attempt two to win at Mestalla in 2010

Athletic Bilbao are going to have a second crack at breaking Valencia’s unbeaten home record in La Liga in 2010 when they travel to the Mestalla in the next round of Spanish league fixtures.

Valencia beat Bilbao 2-0 at home in April during last season and this remains part of a run that has seen them win eight of their last nine La Liga games at the Mestalla.

The one hiccup was in their last domestic outing when they were held by Atletico Madrid, but Valencia are 8/13 to beat Bilbao and bounce back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Bilbao are still to lose away from home this season and are 9/2 to defeat the current league leaders and take the three points.

Valencia have won their last two home games with Bilbao 2-0 and a repeat is 6/1, while Fernando Llorente is the chief goal threat of the visitors and is 7/1 to score first.

The other televised La Liga game on Saturday sees Espanyol travel to Real Sociedad looking to extend their record to seven league games unbeaten against the home side.

Sociedad came into the game in reasonably poor form having lost their last three La Liga fixtures, while they have only scored once in their last three encounters with Espanyol at home.

However, Espanyol’s recent away form is equally as bad as they are on a four-game losing run and they have not scored in any of these defeats.

Sociedad are 5/2 to beat Espanyol, with the visitors 9/4 to build on their strong start which has seen them rise to sixth spot in the La Liga standings.

Valencia have been cut to 22/1 to win La Liga following their impressive opening to the season. See the whole La Liga winners betting odds market.
