Montenegro maintain pressure on England with third win

A Wembley win is even more vital for England in their game on Tuesday with Montenegro as their visitors continue to be the somewhat surprise package in Group G.

Montenegro maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the group with a third successive 1-0 victory as Mirko Vucinic’s goal was enough to see off Switzerland.

They will head to Wembley with momentum and hopes of putting themselves firmly in the driving seat to qualify for Euro 2012 by claiming any sort of result.

Montenegro are 10/1 to beat England and 4/1 to secure a draw.

However, England should be confident as Montenegro have a solid base but struggle for strength in depth, while goalkeeper Mladen Bozovic needed to be near his best to keep out a Swiss side that are renowned for their troubles at finding the target.

As Montenegro’s charge for Euro 2012 continues, Wales’ already seems to be over as they fell to a home defeat against Bulgaria in Brian Flynn’s first game as caretaker manager.

In what was billed as a must win game for Wales after they lost their Group G opener in Montenegro, they passed the ball around pleasingly in parts, but lacked any real attacking threat without Craig Bellamy and Rob Earnshaw.

Steve Morison did have some chances in attack, while Gareth Bale was a constant menace down the left, but once Ivelin Popov put the visitors ahead, an equaliser never really looked on the cards.

Wales travel to Switzerland next, who are the only other team without a point in the group, and although both already seem out of contention, a defeat for either will undoubtedly mean that their qualifying campaign is over before it has really begun.

Switzerland are 4/9 to beat Wales, with the visitors 5/1 to claim victory. See the full Switzerland vs Wales match betting odds market.
