Ranieri still dedicated to ensuring Roma turn form around

Claudio Ranieri insists that he will not quit as manager at Roma despite there being few signs that the club’s early season slump is close to coming to an end.

Roma have managed to make some strides up the Serie A table after winning two of their last three games, although they are still eight points adrift of Lazio.

This has seen them drift to 14/1 to win Serie A after a big challenge was expected as they just fell short when chasing home Inter Milan last season.

Alongside their sluggish start to their domestic season, Roma have also failed to sparkle in Europe and a home defeat against Basle in their Champions League group leaves them bottom after three games.

This latest setback was met by further groans and protests from the stands, but Ranieri has vowed to continue to battle to turn things around.

He told Il Corriere dello Sport: “I am not thinking about quitting because I am not a coach who gives up when the going gets tough and I expect the team to react.

“As for the fan protests, this is football and so I am not surprised. When you win, the fans always back you. When you lose, they are against you.”

Ranieri’s task is unlikely to get any easier as Roma’s next domestic game sees them travel to Parma.

Roma have lost all three of their Serie A away games so far, but are 11/8 to beat Parma and put an end to this streak.

The fixture has also been a good one for Roma in recent years as they have won the last eight league meetings between the two and scored 25 goals in the process, while conceding just twice.
