Westwood to be on top of the world?

Lee Westwood is 6/1 with Ladbrokes to rise to the top of the world rankings with a top-two finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Englishman is 10/1 favourite to win the competition, and 5/4 to be world number 1 before the end of 2010.

It’s 2/1 that one of the victorious Ryder Cup players wins the championship, with Westwood 3/1 to outperform all of his teammates. Rory McIlroy is also 3/1 and Graham McDowell an 8/1 shot, while European captain Colin Montgomerie is 200/1 to win the trophy, and 2/1 to make the cut.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said, “Westwood has been a model of consistency over the last couple of years, and the world number one ranking would top off a perfect week.”

Following the torrential rain which threatened to ruin the Celtic Manor event, Ladbrokes is also offering 20/1 that the Dunhill Championship runs over to Monday.
