Del Piero keen to play on for another season at Juventus

| 17.11.2010

Alessandro Del Piero feels that he is still in good enough physical condition to continue playing for Juventus for at least another season after the end of the current campaign.

Del Piero recently became Juventus’ all-time Serie A top goalscorer and has played a leading role in their promising start to the season.

The 36-year-old has featured in all 12 of Juventus’ Serie A games so far, starting on seven occasions, to help them sit in fourth in the standings.

This has left them 11/2 to win the Serie A title this season, although they still have six points to make up on current table-toppers AC Milan.

Many followers may think that this will be Del Piero’s last season representing Juventus, but the Italian striker feels that he still has plenty to offer.

He told Radio Deejay: “It’s not that I want to continue my career just to carry on playing. I want to play because I feel able to ensure a certain level of performance.”

However, it is believed that Del Piero may have to agree to a wage cut if he wishes to sign a deal for another 12 months at Juventus.

The Old Lady face a challenging fixture next in Serie A if they want to keep up the pressure on Milan, as they travel to Genoa.

Juventus are 6/4 to beat Genoa, although this is an away game that they have failed to win in the last two Serie A seasons.

However, they are unbeaten in their last eight league games, with their last two finishing as a draw.

Del Piero has scored in two of their last four outings and also struck twice against Genoa last season.

Although Juventus will be targeting winning Serie A, Del Piero feels that their primary aim is to finish in the top three to secure Champions League football next season. See the full Serie A winners football betting odds market.
