Ferguson’s men go joint top with Chelsea without hitting top gear

Manchester United may be the team to beat in the Premier League this season as despite missing star player Wayne Rooney for a large amount of the campaign and seemingly not getting out of top gear, they find themselves joint top of the table.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s team are now 2/1 to win the Premier League after their 2-0 win over Wigan at Old Trafford, where they again failed to produce the type of performance that is commonly expected of Premier League champions.

However, they remain unbeaten in the top flight 14 games into the new season and have continued to take advantage of the slip ups being made by their fellow title challengers.

Chelsea appear to have hit a flat spot after a dominant start to the campaign and Carlo Ancelotti will need to quickly find a remedy.

Ancelotti’s team lost for the third time in four Premier League games at Birmingham and seem particularly short of midfield guidance and invention without Frank Lampard and Michael Essien to call upon.

This poor run of form has resulted in Chelsea drifting to 11/10 to take the Premier League title for the second year in succession.

Arsenal are the other team that do not seem to want to assert themselves on the title race as every time they are presented with the chance to top the standings, they flatter to deceive.

After taking a two-goal lead over north London rivals Tottenham they fell to a 3-2 defeat, which is already their third home loss of the campaign.

The defeat leaves Arsenal two points off top spot and they are 5/1 to win the Premier League. See the full Premier league winners betting odds market.
