Hankey to set up Taylor clash with straightforward Beaton win

Published:

He’s already seen off Phil Taylor once at the Grand Slam of Darts and will set up another meeting with ‘The Power’ tomorrow if he comes through a tough second round game against Steve Beaton.

Hankey has won all three games of the tournament so far – including a 5-4 win against Taylor in their second Group H game – and is favourite in the darts betting at 8/13 to take this tie.

They have only met once before, with Beaton coming out on top 4-3 in a clash ten years ago. After his brilliant Performances so far, Hankey should have more than enough to win this time around.

Elsewhere, Raymond van Barneveld faces a tough task to make it through against Scott Waites. The Englishman brushed aside the competition to top Group E with a 100 per cent record but is still the outsider against Van Barneveld at 11/10.

With ‘Barney’ far from his best and struggling to recapture the form that saw him win the World Darts Championship in 2007, that could certainly be a bet worth taking on.

Finally, Colin Lloyd is looking to build on his 100 per cent start to the tournament with a win against Co Stompe in their second round game.

Lloyd has posted impressive victories against Van Barneveld, Darryl Fitton and Tricia Wright so far, while Stompe needed a narrow 5-4 victory against Martin Phillips in his final game to scrape through Group E in second spot.

Stompe has won five of their seven meetings so far, but Lloyd should continue his brilliant form and win this at 8/11.
