Mourinho ready for the challenge that is his first Madrid derby

Published:

Jose masterminded some impressive derby wins while at Inter Milan and the Real Madrid manager will want to continue his derby record when his side line up against Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening.

Mourinho has only ever lost one game when he has been in charge of the home team, that was when Baira Mar beat Porto in February 2002, meaning the best Atletico can hope for is a draw priced at 9/2.

Although Atletico have scored seven goals in their past two away games and the 80,000 people that pack themselves into the Bernabeu may be in for a goal fest.

Real are 3/10 to win the match and have score 20 goals in their past six home games, the two fixtures from last season produced 10 goals with Real winning 3-2 on both occasions leaving the 10/11 available for over 3.5 goals looking tempting.

Real are priced at 28/1 to win the match 3-2 and considering Mourinho’s incredible home streak, the only side with a chance of upsetting him are Barcelona.

Getafe vs Barcelona

Barcelona also travel to Madrid on Sunday night but face a much easier prospect to that of the Madrid sides when they take on Getafe.

On the 12 occasions that Getafe and Barcelona have met in La Liga, Getafe have won just once with Barcelona winning on eight occasions and Pep Guardiola’s side are 3/10 to win against Getafe.

Barca haven’t been as emphatic in front of goal this season as they previously have been under Pep Guardiola, but Lionel Messi with 15 goals in 13 games this season is the main source of Barca’s goals and is 5/2 to score first.

In the past three games between the two, Barca have never scored more than two with Getafe only getting the one goal and under 2.5 goals is priced at 6/5.

Barcelona are favourites to win La Liga at 5/6. See the full Primera Liga betting odds here.
