Manchester United shorten to 11/8 to win league after Arsenal success

Manchester United not only returned to the top of the Premier League table by claiming their 1-0 win over Arsenal but they have also shortened as favourites to win the title at the end of the season.

Ji-sung Park scored the only goal at Old Trafford as the Red Devils opened up a two-point lead at the top and they are now 11/8 in the Premier League odds to be crowned champions.

And things are looking even better for Manchester United’s men as they can still expect plenty more out of Wayne Rooney in the remaining five months of the season.

Rooney played the whole 90 minutes against Arsenal and despite missing a penalty he produced a lively display in the lone-striker role.

The 25-year-old has only managed two goals this season and both have come from the penalty spot – against West Ham in the third round of Premier League fixtures and then against Rangers in the Champions League.

This is in stark contrast to the 35 goals he managed in all competitions last season and Sir Alex Ferguson‘s team will prove even more of an attacking threat when Rooney begins to regain his best form.

Manchester United are still unbeaten after 16 Premier League games and they can enhance their case further in their next game as they travel to Chelsea.

Despite not having won at Stamford Bridge for eight seasons, Manchester United’s betting odds are 9/5 to beat Chelsea.

Arsenal’s loss at Old Trafford means they have failed to win any of their last 11 games with chief title rivals Manchester United and Chelsea and they are now second in the standings, while also having played a game more than the leaders.
