Van Barneveld has waited a year to get Osborne redemption

Revenge will be on the mind of Raymond Van Barnelveld as he prepares to face Colin Osborne in the third round of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

Osborne triumphed when the pair last met at the last-16 stage of the UK Open Finals last year and he is 9/2 in the darts betting to take victory again.

Van Barneveld has been open with the fact that this defeat came at a time when he was struggling to produce his best form and he is 1/8 to take revenge and win for the sixth time in eight meetings with Osborne.

Although Van Barneveld should have the ammunition to move into the last eight, he has dropped sets in his victories over both Steve Hine and Kevin McDine so far.

The wise money may be on the Dutchman progressing 4-2, which can be backed at 7/2, while it is 9/4 that Van Barneveld wins 4-1.

Wes Newton may also fancy his chances of reaching the quarter finals at Alexandra Palace as he faces this year’s surprise package Mensur Suljovic.

Suljovic caused the upset of the tournament when dumping out number two seed James Wade in the second round and is available at 6/4 to cause another shock and beat Newton.

Meanwhile, he has already beaten Newton once before, in their only previous meeting in Holland last year.

Newton is yet to drop a set in disposing of Darin Young and Brendan Dolan in the opening two rounds and is 1/2 to beat Suljovic.

He is also a big price to keep up his record of not dropping a set and is 7/1 in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship betting to see off Suljovic 4-0.

A £10 stake on Osborne beating Van Barneveld 4-2 would return £160. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
