Michael Martin to take over the reigns at Fianna Fail

Michael Martin looks set to be the next leader of Fianna Fail according to Ladbrokes.

After this afternoon’s resignation by Brian Cowen the bookmaker has installed Martin as the hot 1/20 favourite to step in.

With a vote of no confidence in Brian Cowan as Taoiseach expected once Dail Eireann resumes next week Edna Kenna is expected to be installed at odds of 1/16.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’re close to closing the book and paying out on Martin to be the next Fianna Fail leader. A Fine Gael Labour coalition also appears the next government formation as the Irish political shake up continues.
