Bet on QPR to win Championship after passing Forest test

It may not have been one of their finer performances – and they did face ten men for much of the game – but QPR’s point against Forest have put them firmly in the driving seat to win the Championship.

Tommy Smith opened the scoring wiith a brilliant goal for QPR on 16 minutes and Radoslaw Majewski was then sent-off for a reckless lunge on QPR’s Adel Taarabt. However, Forest found the equalizer through David McGoldrick after 26 minutes.

It wasn’t the result QPR were after – especially against ten men – but the point puts them six points clear of Cardiff in second spot with a game in hand over the south Wales club who beat Scunthorpe 1-0 on Saturday.

However, QPR boss Neil Warnock is determined not to let his side get ahead of themselves and knows his side face a vital few months.

He said: “It’s always difficult against 10 men but our strikers could have done more. To concede a goal like that is Sunday league stuff and the equaliser summed it up, how lucky can you be?

“If we’d have been tight for that period they would have had to come out rather than park the bus. But these are good points. Today’s game won’t decide our fate, the 15 we have left will.”

QPR are currently 4/6 to win the Championship and on their current form it’s hard to see past them for the title. However, if one side is going to push them all the way, it looks like being Forest.

Billy Davies’ men are seven points behind the Hoops, but have played two games less than their promotion rivals. They have not lost in ten Championship games and their draw against QPR was the first time they’ve failed to take maximum points in six games.

If you fancy some longer odds then you can back Forest to win the league at 4/1.
