French stars go head-to-head for quarter-final spot with Federer

As Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic continue to carve their way through the Dubai Duty Free tennis championships field, punters are left searching for a match that can provide some excitement and value.

Well punters are rewarded for their patience today when the enigmatic Richard Gasquet takes on friend and fellow countryman Giles Simon for a place in the quarter-finals.

Richard Gasquet vs Giles Simon

Simon may be the 4/6 favourite to beat Gasquet, but his only victory over the world number 28 came in a qualifier in Florida last year.

Gasquet has won all four of the proper ties the two have featured in and at 11/10 to win, considering he is also ranked 5 places higher than Simon, Gasquet holds all the value for punters.

Only one set has been dropped by Gasquet in his four wins and at 12/5 to win the match 2-0, there’s potential for a big return.

Roger Federer vs Sergiy Stakhovsky

The winner of Gasquet vs Simon is likely to meet Federer in the quarter-final as the Swiss star is 1/33 to beat his Ukranian opponent.

Stakhovsky is an unknown quantity for Federer but the world number 43 will be boosted by his second round win over Ernests Gulbis, but the 25-year-old faces a huge task beating the world number two.

Federer is currently the 5/4 favourite to win the tournament and the only way punters will find any value backing the Swiss star today is by backing him to win the match 2-0 at 1/8.

Novak Djokovic vs Florian Mayer

Like Federer, Djokovic is a short favourite to beat Mayer today and at 1/16, the Serb also offers punters little value.

Mayer is yet to drop a set in this tournament and will provide Djokovic with his toughest test so far, and backing the Serb to win 2-1 offers punters plenty of value at 4/1.

A £25 stake on Gasquet beating Simon 2-0 would return £85. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
