Bet on Quinz to win Grand National off low weight

Published:

Quinz has made a promising start to his chase career and the fact that he is likely to sneak into the Grand National off a low weight makes him a serious contender at Aintree.

Three wins in four starts over the larger obstacles for Quinz has seen his stock rise considerably, with the one blemish on his card being an acceptable third place behind RSA Chase favourite Time For Rupert at Cheltenham in December.

Quinz has returned to winning ways since with a sparkling jumping display to land the Racing Post Chase at Kempton recently and this led to connections considering a crack at the Aintree showpiece.

This victory is likely to see Quinz raised 9lb in the weights, but the fact that the Grand National weights had already been set prior to the Racing Post Chase, means that Quinz will get in light at Aintree.

Quinz is set to carry just 10st 8lb and is therefore a great price at 20/1 in the Grand National betting to secure victory.

Furthermore, horses including Rhyme ‘N’ Reason and Rough Quest have proved in the past that a victory in the Racing Post Chase is a worthy stepping stone to another success in the Grand National.

The only hindrances are that he may not even run at Aintree if the ground is soft and that a seven-year-old has failed to win the Grand National since 1940.

Trainer Philip Hobbs could potentially have three runners in this year’s Grand National as Dream Alliance and The Sliotar are also among those entered.

Mon Mome won the Grand National in 2009 at 100/1 and this is the ante-post price held by Dream Alliance, while The Sliotar is even bigger at 150/1.

A £25 stake on Quinz winning the Grand National would return £500. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
