Nani injury could boost Arsenal’s Premier League title chances

Arsenal’s betting odds may have drifted out to 15/8 to win the Premier League following their defeat at Barcelona, but this may be a big price if Nani is indeed ruled out for two months at Manchester United.

Nani suffered a deep cut on his shin in Manchester United’s defeat at Liverpool and this is expected to keep the Portuguese winger out for at least a month.

However, there is speculation that the healing time could double because of the high risk of infection in the process.

Nani has been a pivotal to Manchester United sitting on top of the Premier League as his 15 top-flight assists this season is four more than any other player in the division.

Therefore, his absence will be a massive loss over the duration of the season as Manchester United look to defy Premier League betting odds of 4/6 to win the title.

The only bit of good news is that Manchester United can at least take solace from the fact that Antonio Valencia is back training with the first-team after breaking his left ankle in September.

But it may take Valencia a few games to get back up to speed with the Premier League and he is unlikely to immediately be able to step into the boots vacated by Nani.

Without their chief provider of goals, Manchester United may struggle to create chances in their upcoming fixtures and this could enhance Arsenal’s title credentials.

Arsenal are currently three points behind Manchester United with a game in hand to close this gap and assuming they can quickly erase their Barcelona defeat from their minds, they have decent prospects.
