Punters hope to make Haye with SPOTY gamble
Published:DAVID HAYE is the new 4/1 favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award with Ladbrokes.
The bookies have seen a flurry of bets from punters since confirmation that his long-awaited bout with Wladimir Klitschko will go ahead. Haye is currently 5/4 to defeat the Ukrainian in what he claims will be his final fight before retirement.
David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “If Haye beats Klitschko his odds will collapse. A Grand Slam victory for Andy Murray would make things interesting but punters have made their move for the Hayemaker.”
