Manchester City already have one hand on the FA Cup

Manchester City will be favourites to win this year’s FA Cup Final regardless of whether it’s Bolton or Stoke that they face at Wembley, having been priced at 2/5 following their 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

After a week of gloom in which the Citizens were shown up 3-0 by Liverpool at Anfield and captain Carlos Tevez was ruled out for up to a month, they delivered when it mattered most to close in on their first trophy in 35 years.

The triumph will of course be even sweeter for coming against their neighbours and fiercest rivals, whose supporters never miss a chance to remind them how long they have gone without silverware, and it also ends the Red Devils’ treble bid.

While Roberto Mancini’s side have a week to rest up and celebrate before resuming their bid for a top-four finish – which they are 1/3 to achieve – the Premier League leaders face an absolutely critical midweek.

The 1/7 title favourites are in action on Tuesday night at Newcastle in a match that they are 8/13 to win and, despite leading Arsenal by seven points, they can ill afford a slip up against the Magpies at St James’ Park.

The Gunners have two opportunities to close the gap over the next few days, following their home game against Liverpool with a high-stakes north London derby away to Tottenham on Wednesday, which they are 6/4 to deliver in.

A £10 stake on Arsenal finish first at 11/2 would provide a £55 profit. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of a free football bet worth up to £30.
