Clarke snoozes, bookies lose

KEN CLARKE’S nap during President Obama’s Westminster Hall address was great news for punters, according to Ladbrokes.

In the wake of Clarke’s alleged shut-eye during the Budget speech they were quick to snap up the 1/1 offered about the justice secretary falling asleep again at a major political speech during 2011.

The bookies are now taking no chances and make Clarke odds-on (4/6) to catch 40 winks at a major speech or event again this year.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We can’t believe it. We sent Clarke a crate of energy drinks in March to stop this happening and they clearly didn’t work.

“Once again Clarke and his impromptu naps are the toast of punters everywhere tonight.”
