Johnson to repeat Crowne Plaza Invitational victory

Zach Johnson has shown signs in recent weeks of bringing his best form back to the golf course and has a strong chance of winning the Crowne Plaza Invitational for the second year in succession.

Johnson is 16/1 in the PGA Tour odds to win at Colonial again and he proved last year that his style is well complimented to the course.

Colonial is a relatively short par-70 course with small greens, so the big emphasis is to focus on players with good accuracy from the tee, can scramble and feature highly in putting statistics.

Johnson sits in sixth spot in the PGA Tour statistics at present in terms of the accuracy of his driving, while he is in the same position for strokes gained through putting.

The 35-year-old has been fairly quiet since claiming his seventh PGA Tour title 12 months ago by beating Brian Davis by three strokes and he only has one top-ten finish to his name in the current season from 11 starts.

However, this did come earlier this month when sixth at the Wells Fargo Championship and he has followed up since with a solid display at the Players Championship.

Most noticeable was his closing round 66, which should enhance his confidence ahead of the Crown Plaza Invitational.

Punters wanting to opt for a player at much greater PGA Tour odds could do worse than bet on Greg Chalmers, who is available at 100/1.

Chalmers already has two top-ten finishes this season and statistics show that he one of the best putters on tour.

His weak link can often prove his lack of distance off the tee, but this should not be a factor at Colonial because of its short nature.

A £30 stake on Lucas Glover winning the Crowne Plaza Invitational would return £1500. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
