Lagarde favourite to be next IMF leader

| 19.05.2011

Christine Lagarde is the favourite to take over as the new IMF leader according to Ladbrokes.

Following Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s resignation, the French finance minister is in pole position at 2/1 with stand-in Lipsky the 4/1 second favourite.

Gordon Brown is a live 6/1 chance with Scandinavian Finance ministers Anders Borg & Jykri Katainen 25/1 outsiders.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Lagarde’s handling of the credit crisis makes her the form pick and a worthy favourite. We’re also sure to see money for Brown.”
