Lazio vs Juventus – Lazio can dent Juve’s European hopes

The chase for the fourth Champions League qualifying spot in Serie A is set to hot up when Lazio meet Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

Match odds

Lazio have won their last four home fixtures, and the Biancazzurri are 11/10 to make it five against Juventus.

Lazio will be boosted by the return of midfielder Francelino Matuzalem from suspension, but their creative kingpin Stefano Mauri is banned.

The home side pride themselves on a mean defence and, having conceded just 36 goals this season, they boast the second best defensive record in the league behind leaders Milan.

Such a resolute backline, coupled with the attacking threats of Mauro Zarate and Sergio Floccari, could prove to be a potent mix for Lazio.

Juve won 2-1 when the sides met at the Delle Alpi in December, and the Bianconeri are 13/5 to complete the double over their capital city counterparts.

Currently in seventh place, Juve are finally beginning to rediscover some form this season, and they enter this fixture on a six-match unbeaten run.

Three of those games have been draws, and another stalemate at the Stadio Olimpico is available at 9/4.

First goalscorer

Hernanes is Lazio’s top scorer in Serie A this season with nine goals, and the Brazilian midfielder is 8/1 to open the scoring.

Sergio Floccari has found the net on eight occasions this season, and both he and strike partner Mauro Zarate are 6/1 to score first.

For the visitors, Alessandro Matri could be the man to watch. The former Cagliari hitman, who has 18 goals this term, is also 6/1 to break the deadlock.

The experienced likes of Alessandro Del Piero and Luca Toni, meanwhile, are both tempting bets to score first at 7/1.
