Man City vs Stoke – Different competition but same result

| 17.05.2011

Manchester City will want to secure automatic qualification into the Champions League next season and this should inspire them to victory over Stoke for the second time in 72 hours.

Match Odds

Roberto Mancini’s team will leapfrog Arsenal into third in the Premier League standings with a win over Stoke and this could be pivotal as the team finishing fourth will have to enter the final qualifying round of the Champions League.

Manchester City are 2/5 in the Premier League odds to repeat their FA Cup victory over Stoke and they certainly have the most to gain from taking victory.

Stoke are 7/1 to get a small measure of revenge on Manchester City for their Wembley defeat and they will head to Eastlands having only lost one of their last seven Premier League games.

A victory would also substantially enhance their chances of securing a first top-ten finish since 1975.

However, the bad news for Stoke is that they have lost all of their away games this season against teams currently in the top half of the Premier League standings.

Three of the last five games between the pair in all competitions have finished 1-1 and it is 7/2 that they play out a draw again.

To Score At Any Time

With Mancini likely to rotate his squad from the team that triumphed in the FA Cup final, some decent value may be on offer in the to score at any time market.

Adam Johnson was a late substitute at Wembley and is expected to be given a start, which makes 9/4 a big price that he scores his fifth league goal of the campaign.

James Milner has endured a frustrating season and is still waiting for his Premier League goal since joining Manchester City.

He is 7/2 to find the target within the 90 minutes.

A £30 stake on Manchester City beating Stoke 2-1 would return £210. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
