McClaren in pole position for West Ham job

Steve McClaren is now just 1/2 with Ladbrokes to be the next permanent West Ham manager.

The former England boss is now the hot favourite for the job little over 12 hours after betting began when Neil Warnock was introduced as the 7/2 favourite for the position.

The bookies can report virtually 100% of the money so far is for McClaren with Hughton also of some interest at 5/1.

Stuart Pearce now joins Nigel Pearson as 33/1 outsiders in the market.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The market is barely a day old and already we’re seeing proper money for McClaren. As we well know with situations like this nothing is guaranteed until he signs on the dotted line however.”
