Punters side with Murray as the Scot grows in confidence
Published:Andy Murray couldn’t have cherry picked an easier opening couple of games in the French Open.
By the Scotsman’s own admission he struggled in his opening round match with qualifier Eric Prodon, but despite his troubles Murray emerged as the 6-4, 6-1 and 6-3 winner.
Of the top four seeds Murray has the easiest draw to the quarter-finals and the Scot is coming in for plenty of support in the French Open betting and is now 14/1 to win the tournament.
Round two of the French Open sees Murray take on Italian world number 126 Simone Bolelli and Britain’s number one is 1/20 to win and 4/11 to win 3-0.
Bolelli was a beaten finalist on the clay courts of Rome three weeks ago, but that tournament featured the lower-ranked players and while he has the clay court form, Murray should have no problems beating the Italian.
Mardy Fish vs Robin Haase
He may have struggled through his opening round French Open match but Fish, ranked 44 places higher than Haase, looks the value in Wednesday’s French Open betting at 8/13 to win.
Haase is 6/5 to beat Fish on the basis of his quarter-final appearance in Nice last week, but the Dutchman beat no-one of note and punters should take the 11/4 for Fish to win 3-1.
Fish is 4/6 to win the first set but punters are better off taking the 11/10 to win the first set and the match.
Arnaud Clement vs Michael Berrer
Both players beat strong opposition in the opening round and he betting for this should be closer than it is.
Clement, a wildcard entry, is 11/8 to win the match with Berrer the 8/15 favourite but we’re going to side with Clement to edge a tight match 3-2 at 11/2.
