Stoke vs Arsenal – Bogey team can spring another surprise

Published:

Mathematically, Arsenal are still in the Premier League title race although with odds of 66/1 to lift the trophy at the end of the season, Arsene Wenger’s side can be all but ruled out.

Come Sunday afternoon when Manchester United take on Chelsea, Arsenal’s season could well and truly be over with Stoke proving somewhat of a bogey team to the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium.

Match Odds

Stoke have won five of their last six home games against Arsenal – four in the league, one in the FA Cup – and the Potters Premier League odds of 4/1 seem ridiculously high against a team that have picked up just 11 points from a possible 24.

Arsenal are playing for pride and having restored some of that against Manchester United last weekend, will be hopeful of doing so again on Sunday and the Gunners are 4/6 to win.

But Tony Pulis will be eyeing this match as a potential rehearsal for the FA Cup final with Manchester City and you can be sure that Stoke will prove tough to break down which is why we’re siding with the Potters.

Total Goals

Arsenal have scored the most goals in the first 15 minutes of games than any other team in the Premier League suggesting Stoke may have to do it the hard way and Pulis’ side are 16/1 to win and 11/2 to come from behind and win or draw.

Arsenal have been gifting late goals recently and Stoke can take advantage of that through Kenwyne Jones who is 5/2 to score at any time.

Robin Van Perise has proved a handful for the Stoke defence in recent years, scoring twice and being sent off once in his last two appearances – the Dutchman is 4/1 to get the first goal.

A 1-1 draw is available at 6/1 but Stoke offer plenty of value at 14/1 to win the game 2-1.
