3:05 Royal Ascot: Jacqueline’s Quest can be triumphant

The Windsor Forest Stakes is one seriously difficult race to predict this year and it may come down to who is the least disappointing on the day.

Sajjhaa and Seta are battling for favouritism at the top of the market and while Seta is currently just edging it at 3/1, the Luca Cumani four-year-old has been more than disappointing in her two Group starts.

Sajjhaa is the more appealing of the two at 7/2 after finishing second behind Midday in a Group Two race at York on her seasonal reappearance, and the Saeed Bin Suroor filly should be the horse the field fears the most.

But favourites don’t have a great record in this race, since the first running of the Windsor Forest Stakes in 2004, only Soviet Song has managed to justify favouritism.

And with that in mind we’re looking further down the field at Music Show and Jacqueline Quest to provide us with a decent price winner.

Both fillies have been disappointing since registering Group One victories last year (albeit Jacqueline Quest’s 2000 Guineas win was taken off her) but they both have the class and the speed to win this sprint.

Music Show is a 8/1 chance and has to find two lengths on Sajjhaa after finishing fourth behind her and Midday in the Group Two at York, but having posted the quickest time in the field, is more than capable of doing so.

However, Jacqueline Quest has the Ascot experience behind her that makes her 20/1 price seem huge.

Following her 2000 Guineas run, Sir Henry Cecil’s filly headed to the Group One Coronation Stakes at Ascot and subsequently finished third, one place ahead of Music Show, in a fast mile.

Johnny Murtagh will take the ride after Tom Queally’s decided he would rather the ride on Chachamaidee, but Queally’s decision to defect shouldn’t worry punters.

Chachamaidee (16/1) is a danger but she finished a long way behind Jacqueline Quest and Music Show in last year’s Coronation Stakes, and at a big price, punters should take a punt on Jacqueline Quest finding her best form.
