Published:No Irish trained horse has ever even placed in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, but this is all set to change this year as Super Say brings strong credentials to the table.
Super Say is 16/1 in the Royal Ascot odds to win the Royal Hunt Cup and many of the statistics of recent years only enhance his chances.
Although draw is not widely considered to be important in the 1m race, it may be significant that each of the last eight winners have come from stall 14 or lower.
Super Say will begin from stall ten and six of the last ten winners have been drawn ten or lower.
A number of other trends also fit in with Super Say, including age, weight, official rating and the fact he is a previous winner over 1m.
This victory came on his latest start when winning at the Curragh in a race that was not ideal as his wide draw meant that he spent the majority of the contest running about seven horses wide.
Meanwhile, he looked as though he would only improve for that run and should be coming into his peak at Royal Ascot.
Ben Curtis will once again take off a useful 3lb and his only problem will be ensuring that he is well positioned so that Super Say can make best use of his finishing burst.
Another horse who appears to have strong each-way credentials is Mont Agel, who is available at 12/1 in the Royal Ascot betting.
The jockey booking of Johnny Murtagh is worth taking note of, while the form of his latest second at York is working out well when he was just beaten on the line by St Moritz.
A low draw is also in Mont Agel’s favour, but it must be seen as a negative that the horse struggles to get his head in front, winning just once in his nine career starts, which was back when he was a maiden in 2009.
