Klitschko vows to make Haye suffer with 12th-round KO
Published:Wladimir Klitschko insists that he will not shy away from his traditional so call “boring” boxing style against David Haye, but this will not prevent him knocking out the WBA heavyweight champion in the final round of their title unification bout in Hamburg.
Haye has been quick to throw numerous insults at the Ukrainian, including the fact that his style is predictable and dull.
The Brit has labelled the Klitschko approach as “jab, jab, grab”, with Klitschko keen to utilise his reach advantage to prevent his opponent getting too close to land their best shots.
Although some boxing fans may be of the opinion that Klitschko may be working on a different style to catch Haye by surprise, he maintains that it does not make sense to change from a technique that has ensured he has remained unbeaten since 2004.
According to the Daily Star, Klitschko added: “I will fight stiff by using my jab, jab, grab but then my right missile will land on his chin or temple and he will get knocked out.
“He has been disrespectful to my family and friends, so I’m going to make it a long 12 rounds for David Haye. I will fight hard for 12 rounds and then knock him out in the last round.
“It will be good for his future life because I will teach him he can’t be cocky.”
Klitschko’s odds are 8/13 to beat Haye and extend his unbeaten record to 14 fights.
Meanwhile, it is 28/1 in the boxing odds that Klitschko lives up to his statement by stopping Haye in round 12, although 20/1 may represent the better value that he triumphs at any time between round ten and the end of the fight.
