17:00 Royal Ascot – Light to Hunt down Tercentenary rivals

Hunters Light may be taking a massive hike in class in the Tercentenary Stakes, but given the quality of his latest win at Newmarket, he could be capable of stepping up the challenge.

The Royal Ascot odds have Hunters Light at 7/1 to win the Group Three contest, even though she has not raced in better company that Class Four so far.

However, she quickened wonderfully well to finish six lengths ahead of Maqaraat at Newmarket, with the horse in second having an official rating of 99.

The beating of Maqaraat may be also significant as he had previously finished second in the Group Three Dee Stakes and chased home leading Epsom Derby contender Oceans War at Newmarket.

Aidan O’Brien seems set to saddle the favourite in the Tercentenary Stakes with Marksmanship, who did little wrong when winning on his only start so far at the Curragh.

Marksmanship is 5/1 to win the Tercentenary Stakes and like Hunters Light, is likely to settle just off the pace and look to quicken into the lead with about 2f remaining.

Pisco Sour is likely to employ front-running tactics and if allowed an easy lead, he could prove tough to pass.

After running third behind Carlton House in the Dante, Pisco Sour raced too keenly and failed to see out all of the 1m4f trip in the Epsom Derby.

Now back at 1m2f, Pisco Sour should be more at home and certainly has each-way credentials at 20/1.

Sir Michael Stoute’s runners also command respect and he runs 7/2 shot Tazahum, who showed good battling qualities to win at Sandown on his latest start.

Alkimos is another who should run well and represents the Luca Cumani and Kieren Fallon that were successful in the Tercentenary Stakes in 2010 with Afsare.
