Man City eyeing major swap in new idea to sell Tevez

It is the blue half of Manchester that may be more likely to be celebrating the signing of Wesley Sneijder in the coming weeks as Manchester City look to trump their neighbours with a swap deal involving Carlos Tevez.

Manchester United appeared to be leading the race for Sneijder, although speculation remains unclear as to whether Sir Alex Ferguson actually wants the Dutch playmaker.

A bid is yet to be tabled for Sneijder by Manchester United and Manchester City may now be in the position steal the first march on their rivals.

Tevez has stated his desire to leave Eastlands and a deal to Brazilian club Corinthians seemed virtually done after a transfer fee was agreed with Manchester City.

However, City have become concerned as to how they will receive their money, while doubts have also emerged as to whether Tevez’ £200,000 a week wages will be paid.

And with the Brazilian transfer window set to be closed at the end of the week, there is a strong possibility that Tevez’ dream move back to South America will not be completed in time.

But with Inter previously keen to sign Tevez but unable to afford his transfer fee, City have now conjured up a Plan B involving Sneijder.

Sneijder could prove the ideal central playmaker that Manchester City lacked for much of last season and his arrival would allow David Silva to move back out to his more familiar position on the left of the midfield.

The potential signing of Sneijder and £38m Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madid would certainly make Manchester City an even bigger force ahead of the next Premier League season.

Manchester City are 5/2 in the Premier League odds to win the title this season, with defending champions Manchester United remaining the 7/4 favourites.
