Norwich vs Stoke: Canaries to continue solid start at top level

Published:

It’s not the most glamorous of the Premier League ties this weekend and it’s unlikely to feature high up on the highlight reel on Match of the Day.

That won’t worry Norwich though who, after last week’s opening day draw away to Wigan, will be confident of taking three points at home and so should punters.

The promoted team may not be expected to fare too well in the Premier League but they can start their campaign with four points from two games.

Match Odds

Stoke aren’t the greatest of travelers – on the basis of last season’s away form only the Potters would have been relegated – and there is plenty of value to be found in backing Norwich to win at 6/4.

This was a constant fixture in the Championship before Stoke won promotion in 2008, and in the 10 meetings between 2002 and 2008, the home side won on six occasions, the first three were drawn and the last was an away win.

Stoke have managed to take just two points from a possible 30 in their last 10 Premier League trips, leaving the 9/5 for a Stoke win offering very little value.

Total Goals

Norwich will take the three points whichever way they come and punters can expect a fourth 1-0 win in five meetings between the two sides at Carrow Road.

Norwich are 7/1 to win 1-0 and under 2.5 goals looks nailed on at 4/6 considering
Stoke have failed to score in their last five Premier League games and have failed to score in seven of their last nine Premier League games.

It’s a match that is unlikely to keep the producers in control of the highlight reel very busy, and we can expect a pretty dour game at Carrow Road on Sunday.
