QPR v Bolton : Rangers set to start the season with three points

Published:

The one season both Queens Park Rangers and Bolton Wanderers were in the Premier League together the Londoners did the double over the Trotters, but both sides finished in the relegation zone.

Bolton quickly re-established themselves as a Premier League side and have never looked back, while Rangers have only just returned to the big time.

Match Odds

Bolton have not won on the road on the opening day of the season for 10 years and go into this season thin on the ground in the striking department, but are still 2/1 for the win.

The Trotters have lost last season’s top scorer Johan Elmander and Daniel Sturridge has returned to Chelsea, leaving Kevin Davies and Ivan Klasnic as the only recognised strikers at the club.

The last time QPR lost on the opening day of the season was five years ago and at 11/8 they look a decent bet to continue that form on Saturday.

Since securing promotion as Championship winners last season, Neil Warnock has strengthened his side adding a striker who notched 12 times in the Premier League last season.

DJ Campbell scored twice against Bolton in the last campaign and will be hoping to do the same in this fixture.

Jay Bothroyd has joined from Cardiff City after grabbing 18 goals in the Championship last season and Adel Taarabt finally has the chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

QPR were strong at home in their title winning season only losing two league matches, and we’re backing them to kick off this campaign with a win.

First goalscorer

New signings Campbell and Bothroyd start as favourites for the opening goal with odds of 4/1 while an outside bet for Wanderers opening the scoring lies with Chris Eagles.

The former Manchester United man scored 15 times for Burnley last season and will be hoping to impose himself on the Premier League.
