Liverpool offer for Enrique as Newcastle sell Twitter ranters

Newcastle are 4/1 in the Premier League odds to be relegated this season and this price may be worth taking quickly as Jose Enrique is set to be the latest star to leave St James’ Park.

Last season’s two top scorers Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan have both already moved on, while Joey Barton has been allowed to leave on a free transfer after his criticism of Newcastle’s transfer policy on Twitter.

Barton has spent much of the summer stating his disapproval of Newcastle’s methods and that the club were not being entirely honest to its players.

Enrique has also made his own comments on Twitter, again highlighting that the club have made him false promises in terms of sorting out a contract extension.

The Spanish full-back only has a year to run on his current deal at Newcastle, but was content on staying if he was offered improved terms.

However, despite being told he would receive a better deal, Enrique has spoken out that the club have made little effort in enticing him to stay.

And Newcastle have now said that Enrique can leave, as Alan Pardew looks to ensure that all the potential troublemakers affecting morale within the camp are sold.

Liverpool have been linked with Enrique for much of the summer and reports are already circulating that a £10m bid has already been accepted.

After conceding three goals in all of their five pre-season friendlies, strengthening their defence could prove vital for Liverpool as they look to improve their performances in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool’s odds are 1/1 to finish in the top four and after spending over £100m since January, this will now be a leading aim for the campaign.
