Djokovic 16/1 in ATP Tour odds to win four 2012 Grand Slams

| 05.09.2011

Novak Djokovic has conquered the men’s tennis circuit in 2011 and many fans will be expected a similar level of dominance in 2012.

Djokovic won three of the four Grand Slams, although his defeat to Roger Federer in the semi finals of the French Open means that the clay-court tournament at Roland Garros is the one major still missing from his resume.

The Serbian, who unsurprisingly has replaced Rafael Nadal at the head of the ATP Tour rankings after his sensational year, is perhaps most at home in hard-court events.

Therefore, the 13/8 on offer in the tennis odds that Djokovic wins the Australian Open for a third time in 2012 may well represent good value.

This may be especially true as Djokovic is also 13/8 in the Wimbledon odds to achieve victory, despite his grass-court history being far inferior to that on hard courts.

Wimbledon may also result in a great deal of patriotic punting, with Andy Murray being well supported to break his Grand Slam duck in his home tournament.

Murray is 7/1 to win Wimbledon in 2012, although he has only managed to reach the semi finals in each of the last three years.

The one interesting ATP Tour betting opportunity relating to Djokovic is how many Grand Slams he will collect in 2012.

It is 7/1 that he equals his 2011 haul of three titles, with the shortest price in this specials market being the 7/4 that he wins just one.

Not since Rod Laver in 1969 has a player won all four Grand Slams in the same year, but it is 16/1 that Djokovic does so and in the process lifts the French Open trophy for the first time.
