Barcelona & Real Madrid out to repeat big La Liga wins

Barcelona and Real Madrid were both emphatic winners on the opening day of the La Liga season and the Spanish giants will be keen to maintain their dominance in the next round of fixtures.

Pep Guardiola’s team will get the opportunity to put pressure on their rivals first, as Barcelona travel to Real Sociedad.

Barcelona are unsurprisingly favourites at 1/6, but that looks like a ridiculously short price for an away team, even it is the reigning Champions League holders.

However, the Catalan club will certainly be up for the game, based on their surprise defeat on their last visit to the Anoeta, albeit being with a young and inexperienced starting line-up.

Real Sociedad were one of only two teams to beat Barcelona in the Spanish top-flight when triumphing 2-1 and this victory prevented the champions from equalling the La Liga record for number of games without defeat.

It is 14/1 in the La Liga odds repeat last season’s home victory, while 6/1 is available that they take points off Guardiola again by claiming a draw.

While Barcelona were busy winning 5-0 against Villarreal on the opening day, Real Madrid were bettering this display with a 6-0 triumph at Real Zaragoza.

Jose Mourinho’s team play their first game of the campaign at the Bernabeu next as they host Getafe and Real Madrid are 1/10 to maintain their 100 per cent winning start.

The omens are good for Real Madrid as they have won all of their last live clashes with Getafe, averaging over three goals in the process.

But Getafe do have a La Liga victory at the Bernabeu to their name and have to believe that this success can be repeated.

Getafe are 20/1 to take the three points and 8/1 to secure their second successive draw, having shared the points with Levante on the opening day of the season.
