Chelsea vs Swansea: Blues too good for depleted Swans
Published:Chelsea may have lost against Manchester United last weekend and Fernando Torres may have produced one of the worst misses in Premier League history, but there were encouraging signs for the Blues.
Torres scored with a very decent finish and looked extremely lively for long periods and, with better finishing, Andres Villas-Boas’ side could easily have got something out of the game.
Swansea are in the firing-line this weekend and it could be a long afternoon for former Chelsea coach Brendan Rogers who is without several key defenders for the trip…
Match odds
Swansea haven’t played Chelsea in any competition since they met in the second tier back in 1983.
They lost 6-1 that day and it’s hard to look too far beyond another comfortable win for Chelsea this time out – especially considering they won their three home games against promoted teams last year with an aggregate score of 12-2.
The Blues are overwhelming favourites for this game at 1/6 while Swansea are out at a massive 18/1 to inflict defeat on a side who have lost just three of their previous 26 Premier League home games.
Goal markets
Chelsea haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last four Premier League home games and all of their previous six league games have yielded three goals or more.
Swansea may be a bit goal shy – they have only scored in one of their opening five games – but backing over 2.5 goals in this game looks pretty decent at 4/9.
Torres finally found the net for Chelsea against United last weekend and should have even more joy against the likes of Garry Monk and Ashley Williams than Jonny Evans and Phil Jones.
Backing him to score at any time at 1/2 looks like it could be well worth a punt – even considering that miss.
