Transfer deadline day betting reaction

EVERTON WERE the big losers in the transfer window according to Ladbrokes.

The Toffees have been cut for relegation to 12/1 by the bookies who also now make David Moyes a live contender in the sack race at 10/1. In the same market Arsene Wenger is now out to 6/1 (from 7/2) following his last minute purchases.

Stoke are now out to 16/1 for the drop and the firm can even report some small money for them to win the title although at the business end of that market it’s Manchester City who are cut again and are now clear 2/1 second favourites. It’s a similar story in the Championship as West Ham are trimmed to 2/1 (from 9/4) for the trophy.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Confidence in Everton was shaky to begin with and we’re not convinced they have come out of this window particularly well. Stoke are massive winners and there’s been enough inspired money for them in the title betting to warrant a price change.”

He added: “It will be interesting to see how punters approach the next Premier League card. We’d expect to see support for Stoke and Arsenal while Everton get shunned.”
