Vettel 11/10 to win Singapore Grand Prix and take next title step

Sebastian Vettel is solely focused on victory at the Singapore Grand Prix and another triumph could potentially be enough to secure him a second successive Formula One world championship.

The Red Bull driver has been dominant through the opening two-thirds of the season, winning eight of the opening 13 races and finishing second on a further four occasions to sit on the brink of the drivers’ title.

This level of consistency has resulted in Vettel opening up a 112-point lead at the top of the standings heading to Singapore.

Simply finishing in the points in the remaining races would almost certainly be enough for Vettel to take the title and the fact that he is yet to retire all season means this is arguably the biggest banker in sport.

Vettel is 11/10 in the Formula One odds to rack up another victory at Marina Bay and if the finishing order works in his favour he would be confirmed as world champion with five races to spare.

Fernando Alonso is his nearest challenger and he must at worst finish on the podium in Singapore to keep alive his minuscule hope of being crowned world champion for a third time.

Alonso’s Grand Prix form has largely improved as the season has wore on, finishing on the podium in six of the last eight races.

It is 8/11 that Alonso finishes on the podium again in Singapore, which is a race that he has won in two of the last three seasons and one where neither Vettel or Red Bull have previously enjoyed success.

These statistics may also make Alonso overpriced at 9/2 to win the Singapore Grand Prix.

However, with the Red Bull team taking pole position for all of the races so far, it is hard not to see Vettel finishing in the first three, which can be backed at 2/9.
