Bolton vs Chelsea: Malouda the man to watch against the Trotters

Published:

Chelsea’s solid start to the season continued in the week with a draw away to Valencia in the Champions League.

However, the Blues will have been hoping for much more and will ultimately be disappointed with picking up just a point in Spain having led for much of the game.

Things couldn’t be much different for Bolton who would give anything for a draw having lost their previous five Premier League games.

They will have their work cut out trying to get back on track against Chelsea…

Match odds

You have to go back 16 games to 2003 to find the last time Bolton beat Chelsea and it promises to be another difficult afternoon for them this Sunday.

Barring their defeat at Old Trafford that owed as much to poor finishing as anything else, Chelsea have been solid in the league this year, winning four of their opening six.

Meanwhile, Bolton have lost all of their previous five league games to leave them languishing at the foot of the table. With Chelsea winning all of their previous seven encounters, it’s hard to look beyond a win for the Blues at 8/15.

Goal odds

Chelsea haven’t just beaten Bolton in their recent games – they’ve demolished them.

The Blues have scored ten goals in their previous three visits to the Reebok Stadium, including two 4-0 wins.

With Villas-Boas’ men scoring in every League game this term since their opening goalless draw against Stoke and Owen Coyle’s side having the worst home defence in the league, backing over 3.5 goals is a tempting bet at 7/4.

Meanwhile, Florent Malouda was excellent in the week against Valencia and has scored on his last three starts against Bolton.

He can be backed at a very tempting 9/4 to find the net at any time.
