Norwich vs Blackburn: D-day for Kean as job could be on the line

| 29.10.2011

Steve Kean is 10/11 to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job and Blackburn’s result at Norwich could have a major bearing on whether this is the case.

Blackburn currently sit bottom of the Premier League and a strong Carling Cup run is unlikely to be enough to convince the club’s owners that he is the right man to lead them to safety this season.

Therefore, their league form will need to improve quickly soon and trips to Norwich and Wigan in the coming weeks could largely decide his fate.

It is 11/4 that Blackburn beat Norwich and the club are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League appearances against the opposition.

However, this should be taken with a pinch of salt as Blackburn were certainly a much greater force than present in the majority of these showdowns.

Based on current form and more recent statistics, Norwich look a great bet at 1/1 to take the three points.

Norwich have only lost one of their last 16 games at Carrow Road and have won six of their last eight in the Premier League at home.

Meanwhile, Blackburn have only triumphed in one of their last 13 Premier League away fixtures.

The draw can alternatively be backed at 5/2.

Another potentially lucrative betting market is that both teams find the target, as neither are particularly adept at keeping clean sheets.

It is 8/11 in the Premier League odds that both teams score, with Yakubu looking a shade overpriced at 7/1 to open the scoring given his recent spate of form for Blackburn.

Steve Morison may be the most likely to score first for Norwich at 5/1, although some value can be found in Anthony Pilkington at 8/1, as he is Norwich’s top scorer so far this season.
