Strictly Come Dancing: tricky week could be a treat for Robbie Savage

Robbie Savage has never been short on confidence, but this week’s Strictly Come Dancing routine appears to have the former Wales footballer quaking in his daps.

Savage and his partner Ola Jordan will be performing a Halloween-themed paso doble to Michael Jackson’s Bad – presumably because another couple got to Thriller first.

Savage has come in to 8/1 to win the whole competition following a few weeks of steady improvement after opening with a disappointing 19 points.

Last week’s jive saw the pair pick up a very decent 27 points to finish in joint fifth place, although it did come at a cost as the blonde bombshell broke his not insubstantial nose when he slid into a camera.

While a battered and bruised face may be the perfect accessory to a Halloween-inspired routine, Savage has bigger concerns and believes the tricky dance will “make or break” him.

However, soldiering on through his injury certainly won’t do his chances any harm and the Welshman has consistently come across as a likeable character during the show.

It’s hard to see Savage being voted off this week and the 8/1 offered for him to win the series may prove a lucrative punt – especially as past winners have included fellow sportsmen Darren Gough Mark Ramprakash.

Meanwhile, 200/1 outsider for the competition Nancy Dell’Olio has asked to be given sexier outfits in the hope it will boost her chances of upsetting the odds and winning the show.

After finishing in the bottom two in the past couple of shows though, it may be too little too late for the Italian lawyer.
