Wolves vs Swansea: Welsh side set for more away day misery

Published:

After opening with two wins against Blackburn Rovers and Fulham it looked as though Wolves were set for a rare season where they wouldn’t be scrapping to avoid relegation.

However, five defeats and a draw in their previous six games have left them languishing in the relegation zone.

If they are to get out of the mire any time soon, this clash against Premier League new boys Swansea City is something approaching a must win game…

Match odds

Wolves head into this game on the back of five straight Premier League defeats but won’t have a better chance of getting a win any time soon.

Mick McCarthy’s men are favourites at 1/1 heading into the game but it has more to do with Swansea’s dismal away record than anything Wolves have done.

It’s been an admittedly hard start for the Swans with games away to Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, but their 3-1 capitulation at Norwich last weekend will be of concern to Brendan Rogers.

Swansea are 11/4 to pick up their first away win of the season and 23/10 to bag a point.

Goal markets

Wolves have shipped at least two goals in their previous five games and face a Swansea team with the worst record in the league so goals look likely.

All bar two of the Swans’ league games this season have yielded at least three goals so backing over 2.5 goals looks worth a punt at 1/1.

Meanwhile, after a barren start to life in the Premier League, Swansea’s record signing Danny Graham has hit two in his last two and can be backed at 7/1 to open the scoring.
