‘Average’ Holly Valance ready to improve for Strictly success

Published:

Holly Valance may be the overpriced celebrity in the Strictly Come Dancing odds at 10/1 given that she still feels she is yet to produce her best in the competition.

Given her music career which has produced hits including ‘Kiss Kiss’, the former Neighbours actress potentially had some dance experience from the time spent with choreographers making her music videos.

This is certainly more experience than the lion’s share of the other Strictly Come Dancing contestants and was a reason for her being earmarked among the early favourites for victory.

Holly’s scores have certainly improved in recent weeks and she has been consistent in gaining around 34 points from the judges.

However, a first ‘10’ still awaits her and she has arguably fallen behind Harry Judd, Jason Donovan and Chelsee Healey in the scoring ranks.

Therefore, she will need to find her best soon if she wants to win Strictly Come Dancing and she feels that she is capable of better.

Holly told TV Times: “I thought I’d probably be a bit better than this – to be honest I think I have been average.

“We are all getting into competition mode now.”

Her progress may have been slightly halted by the back injury suffered by initial dance partner Artem Chigvintsev, but she has now had two weeks to build a partnership with replacement Brendan Cole.

Holly will be performing the quickstep for the first time in the series in week eight, which is the dance that effectively previously announced Chelsee as a serious contender in the competition.

Brendan believes that Holly has the talent but needs to believe in her ability more and if she makes brisk work of the quickstep, she is almost certain to be a shorter price for overall victory after the next live performance.
