Barcelona and AC Milan can open unassailable lead on challengers

Group H is starting to turn into a procession for reigning European champions Barcelona and Serie A winners AC Milan – and there’s nothing to suggest things will change this week.

The teams are currently level on seven points after three games – six ahead of BATE and Viktoria Plzen.

That means if Milan win away to BATE and Barcelona come through to take all three points against Czech side Viktoria Plzen, then the European giants will be guaranteed progression to the knockout stages with two games to spare.

Barca may be playing away from home, but they are still massive 1/10 favourites to win their clash having lost just two of their previous 25 Champions League away games.

Those clashes were against Inter Milan and Arsenal – teams of a slightly higher calibre than Viktoria Plzen who are a huge 22/1 to win this game.

Pep Guardiola’s men should stoll to victory, but a better punt may be to back the Spaniards to win to nil at 8/15. Barca have not conceded a goal in any of their previous three Champions League away games.

The last meeting between the sides at the Nou Camp earlier this season saw Barca win 2-0 and the same result can be backed at 5/1 this Tuesday.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are also big favourites at 8/13 to win away to BATE, with the Belarusians out at 5/1 to cause an upset.

The Italian champions have won their previous five games and have hit the net 11 times in their last three.

With Massimiliano Allegri’s men in such brilliant goalscoring form, backing over 2.5 goals at 5/6 looks a bet well worth considering.
