Bet now before price drops as Pacquiao is 1/1 to KO Marquez
Published:Manny Pacquaio’s third clash with Juan Manuel Marquez is now under a week away, but punters may have to be quick if they want to snap up the 1/1 in the boxing odds that Pacquiao successfully defends his WBO welterweight title by knockout.
Marquez was knocked down on three occasions in the opening round when he first clashed with Pacquaio in the featherweight division in 2004, although he did show the courage to battle back and eventually claim a draw.
In their rematch in 2008 at super-featherweight, Pacquiao again had Marquez down early and went on to win on points.
Much has changed in the last three years, with Pacquiao arguably becoming even stronger, while Marquez has slowed down a step.
It can certainly be argued that Pacquiao has already taken on Marquez when the Mexican was at his best, while it is now the Filipino fighter that is at the top of his game.
The fact that Marquez is also that bit slower may mean that he is that little bit easier to hit, while Pacquiao’s added power should ensure that any time he does connect, it is that bit more damaging.
Pacquiao’s power has already caused problems to the likes of Shane Mosley and Antonio Margarito in the welterweight division and this duo are certainly bigger welterweights than a relatively tiny Marquez.
With Marquez previously stating that he felt he should have won both of his initial two fights with Pacquiao, the defending champion will certainly feel that he has a point to prove and a back story to put right.
He can be expected to come out quickly in the opening rounds and there may even be a case for backing Pacquiao to triumph with an early KO.
It is 10/1 that Pacquiao wins the fight inside the opening three rounds and 4/1 that he retains his title inside six rounds.
