Murray fancied for ATP Tour Finals win after perfect draw

| 16.11.2011

The draw for the group stages of the ATP World Tour Finals could arguably not have gone any better for Andy Murray and the Brit now looks the biggest banker to reach the semi finals of the tournament.

Murray has been placed in Group A alongside world number one Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer and recent Paris Masters conqueror Tomas Berdych, with the top two after they have each played each other progressing to the last four in London.

This obviously means that the other group consists of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish.

The way the draw works splits the eight players into four sets of two, with one of each pairing placed in each group.

It was Djokovic and Nadal as the top seeds and getting an injured Djokovic was better than Nadal.

Dkjokovic has looked a shadow of his former self of late because of a problem with his shoulder and could easily still be below his best in London.

Meanwhile, Nadal comes in well rested and has triumphed in five of his last six meetings with Murray.

Ferrer was paired with Tsonga, with the latter the far better of the pair on hard courts and the former having lost his last four showdowns with Murray.

Murray should also have the fire in his belly to defeat Berdych after the Czech player shaded a tight game in France recently to win a tense quarter final.

Priced at 11/4 in the tennis betting to win the ATP World Tour Finals, Murray now has to be the best bet, particularly as he has lifted the winners’ trophy in three of his last four tournaments.

Federer remains the 2/1 favourite to triumph, but it is no gimme that he will finish in the top two of a group that also includes Nadal and Tsonga.
