Three big reasons for Massa to claim Brazilian Grand Prix podium

Felipe Massa has three big reasons to produce his best performance of the season at the Brazilian Grand Prix and this is why 10/1 may be a big price in the Formula One odds that he finishes on the podium at Interlagos.

Massa has had a season to forget at Ferrari, failing to finish on the podium in any of the 18 races so far and collecting less than half the points of teammate Fernando Alonso.

These results leave him on the brink of being the first Ferrari driver since 1992 to go a whole season without a podium finish and have sparked rumours that his place at the team is under threat.

Ferrari have suggested that they will give Massa another year to fully prove himself, although there is speculation that Robert Kubica and Nico Rosberg are both being heavily considered as replacements for next season.

Massa would do his chances of staying on the world of good with a good result in Brazil and the fact that it is also his home race will only give him a greater incentive to do himself justice.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Grand Prix could be classed as a celebration for Massa for other reasons as it is 100th start for Ferrari in Formula One.

Massa’s car has not been of the quality of Red Bull or McLaren this season, but Alonso has already proved this season that it is capable of winning a Grand Prix.

It is 50/1 that Massa wins the Brazilian Grand Prix, but punters wanting to take a safer option could do worse than take the 8/15 that he finishes inside the top six.

If Massa finishes then it is almost certain he will be in the top ten, which can be backed at 1/5.
